Our "InterGenerational" Valentine banquet

Last night was awesome.
I may be a bit biased but my opinion stays the same. =)
Our co-leading couple for the Young Marrieds class suggested the idea of doing a valentine banquet for the young married group only with a slight twist. Instead of just inviting the young married couples in the class to invite some more experienced (aka older marrieds?) couples from the church to join us for the evening. We had approx. 13 "young" marrieds and about 8 "older" married couples for our potluck event. One of the couples owns their own flower shop. They made these really beautiful centerpieces for us! So generous- and such a stunning addition! We played a nametag game we called "Duos and Kisses". Everyone had a nametag to wear that had the name of one of a famous duo. You were to be called that name all evening otherwise someone could steal a "kiss" from you (there were hershey kisses by their seats). It made for some interesting company consider we had Adam/Eve, Batman/Robin, Sonny/Cher, Tarzan/Jane and Bob and Larry- just to name a few. Brad and I were Dorothy and Toto.
We also played 2 rounds of the Newlywed game- what valentine banquet is complete without that standby? =)
It was a neat evening of getting to know others (even by funny names) who are more experienced in the world of married life.
Like I said, it was awesome.
=)

I love groups at church where ages and stages mix...I think it is rich way to learn...better vision less myopia. Glad it was a good time.
